Working as part of a cross functional team, you deliver the RDQ activities required to complete Packaging Design and Packaging Deployment for Innovation/Growth projects and productivity projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience.
**How you will contribute**
With the support and guidance of a manager, you will organize and execute projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct activities to generate appropriate packaging information, using sampling and supplier management, and pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In this role, you will plan and conduct process development activities (e.g. packaging design and specifications, packaging scale up, commissioning etc.) and help with planning and the effective use of resources, including the use of external agencies. You will also create technical reports, which will require your skills in analysis and interpretation of results that will lead to conclusions and recommendations; create and maintain accurate packaging specifications; and create intellectual property to drive our competitive advantage.

**More about this role**
**What you need to know about this position:**
This is an R&D Packaging Development position in Canada cross category, responsible for delivering against multiple brands. You must have experience in package development and plant trial execution in a fast-paced environment. You must possess strong technical skills and the ability to learn on the fly.
This position reports to the Packaging Lead for Canada cross category. You will be part of cross-functional teams delivering Innovation, Renovation, Productivity, Quality and Sustainability efforts.
You will work with product and process development, marketing, quality, procurement, finance, supply chain, suppliers, and others.
You will leverage your packaging skills to conduct prototyping, package design & sizing, material selection and specifications, pallet patterns, etc. You will create and maintain accurate packaging specifications and potentially participate in the development of intellectual property to drive our competitive advantage.
**What extra ingredients you will bring:**
+ Graphics: apply knowledge around the printing process to determine how it affects package performance. Effectively apply to business issues and make appropriate recommendations.
+ Product Packaging interactions: apply knowledge of product, process, and package interactions to make material recommendations and narrow down variables during development process.

**Education / Certifications:**
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
**Job specific requirements:**
+ 2-3 years’ experience in a packaging development role, including co-op and/or internship experience.
**Travel requirements:**
+ Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for domestic vendor/manufacturing visits.
