The Zurn Elkay Packaging Engineer Internship supporting the Zurn Wilkins Water Control and Safety business unit, offers a great opportunity for exposure in a hands-on learning environment. You will have the opportunity to develop a variety of technical, business, and leadership skills during the assignment.

The responsibilities the intern will complete include two major projects to evaluate current packaging and help determine if there may be cost savings as well as an opportunity to create new packaging for the Fire Groove product line.  

As a part of the intern program, you will have the opportunity to take advantage of the following:

Networking Events – Zurn Elkay hosts multiple networking opportunities in the Summer that give you exposure to other interns, the leadership team, and executive leaders.Coaching and Mentoring – You will have a structured on boarding process to introduce you to Zurn Elkay's corporate culture and provide you with regular feedback.Real Work Experience – Our internship process does not include getting coffee for your boss or running copies. We will provide you with a real opportunity to run reports, share your analysis, and improve our processes.

Key Accountabilities

Identify and pursue cost-saving initiatives via changes in package designs, materials, equipment, processes, sourcing strategies etc.Complete standard drawings for crates.Develop a new box and specification for product line.Research and implement packaging materials and methods that will benefit the business.Performs root cause analysis on packaging failures and recommends corrective action.Collaborate with key leaders and teams to facilitate effective communication, resolve operational issues, and ensure alignment across departments.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

Currently pursuing a major in Packaging EngineeringMust have at least a junior standing, a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or above Able to work 40 hours per week during the summer Efficient and detail-oriented Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient knowledge of MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and OutlookPotential to travel to other Business Units for exposure to other packaging items.

The compensation range(s) identified below are a good faith estimate of the salary expected to be paid as performed from these locations. Actual salaries may vary based on a variety of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, education and training; and other relevant business and organizational factors. Most candidates will start in the lower half of the range. 

Compensation range: $16.50 - $22/hour depending on education experience
