Job Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting the packaging design process by reviewing new products and identifying existing packaging solutions that may be repurposed. This role involves validating packaging assemblies, creating accurate packaging Bills of Materials and ensuring that all relevant information is properly documented and maintained in company databases. The role will work closely with the New Product Launch Team to verify the suitability of packaging solutions during product verification trips and collaborate with senior Packaging Engineers when new packaging designs are required. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that packaging meets all necessary standards and functions effectively throughout the product launch process.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

Review newly designed products to determine if existing packaging assemblies can be utilized. Package units using identified assemblies to confirm suitability and performance.Develop accurate packaging Bills of Materials for approved packaging assemblies. Ensure all relevant information is correctly documented and entered into the appropriate databases.Release and manage packaging information in the company’s databases, ensuring that all records are accurate and up to date.Work with the New Product Launch Team during verification trips to identify and resolve any packaging-related issues. Ensure smooth integration of packaging solutions into the product launch process.Collaborate with Packaging Engineer team to support the design and testing of new packaging solutions if no existing packaging assembly is available.Assist in the preparation and testing of new packaging assemblies to validate they meet ISTA standards.Provide feedback on packaging performance and suggest improvements based on hands-on experience with packaging assemblies.Assist with troubleshooting packaging concerns and providing timely solutions.Communicate design changes and evaluation plans with manufacturing plants and distribution centers.Responsible for recording all measurements and weights for new products.

SCOPE & IMPACT:

This position plays a vital role in the success of product launches by ensuring that packaging solutions are both effective and efficient. By carefully reviewing new products and repurposing existing packaging assemblies, the technician contributes to cost-saving measures and reduces the need for new designs. Their meticulous creation of packaging Bills of Materials helps prevent inventory issues, while their accurate documentation ensures smooth and efficient operations within the manufacturing plants. Furthermore, by collaborating with the New Product Launch Team and senior Packaging Engineers, the technician ensures that all packaging solutions are verified and meet industry standards, directly impacting the overall quality and reliability of the company’s products as they reach the market.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

High school diploma or GED, with 1+ years of relevant work experience.SolidWorks or similar CAD software.Basic understanding of packaging process, materials, and testing methods.Proficient in interpreting blueprints.Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow standardized procedures.Basic computer skills, including familiarity with databases and data entry.Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.Up to 25% travel required

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 

Experience in packaging designKnowledge of ISTA standardsExperience in material handling and warehouse equipment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Often sits, repeated hand motion (such as typing and stapling), talking, standing, balancing. Seldom will you be bending, stooping, climbing stairs or ladders, kneeling, squatting reaching overhead or pulling and pushing. May be in proximity to moving parts, noise, fumes, odors, gasses, subject to oils and or poor ventilation. Often operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs, be able to pack products for testing, trials, and reviews.
