Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented PAEI Data Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure to manage and process publicly available electronic information. You will work closely with our DCSA partners as well as data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that our data systems are robust, scalable, and optimized for performance.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates in the NCR that can commute to Hanover, MD and be on-site 2 days a week.
What You'll Be Doing:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and store large volumes of publicly available electronic data from various sources, including APIs, web scraping, and open data platforms
Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across our data platforms
Integrate and manage data from diverse sources, ensuring seamless data flow and accessibility for analysis and reporting
Monitor and troubleshoot data infrastructure performance, ensuring high availability and reliability of data systems
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
A minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering or a related role.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
Strong experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Apache Airflow, Luigi, or similar
Expertise in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including data services like Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Active Secret-level clearance
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Experience with web scraping tools and techniques
Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
Understanding of data privacy and security best practices
