Overview TITLE: MAINTENANCE PAINTER REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Assistant Chief Engineer. In his/her absence, reports directly to the Chief Engineer. JOB SUMMARY: Has a professional knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications. Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in holes, etc. Makes needed repairs to sheet rock walls. Paints and redecorates walls, ceilings, trim, woodwork and fixtures in a professional manner, applying paint with spray gun or brush. May mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color for consistency. Maintains an accurate inventory of paint and associated supplies. Qualifications In general, the work of a maintenance painter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship, or equivalent training and experience. Although a high school education is not necessary, high school graduates are preferred. Education should include at least two years of mathematics and one to two years of English. Applicants should have at least three to five years prior experience as a house, institutional, military or resort painter. Prior experience in the hospitality industry will be considered a definite plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should be in excellent physical condition with a strong back, arms and legs; capable of lifting heavy buckets of paint, capable of lifting and moving heavy ladders. Applicants should also have excellent mobility and be able to paint over-head or on their hands and knees.
