Who will you be working with?

Our production floor comprises of a host of different crafts, each with their respective duties, and types of expertise. As a member of the team, you will work closely with all departments and key stakeholders.

 

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Services Division, you will be responsible for painting fabricated parts, components, or units in a paint booth. You will also work in a blast bay to prep the items needing paint. Team members may assist less experienced team members with knowledge and expertise.

What will your typical day look like?

Parts prep through the use of sandblaster, hand sanding tools, and other methodsApplication of industrial primer & paint using a pressure pot spray system or gravity fed spray gunApplication of two-part corrosion resistant undercoatingClean, touchup, and final inspection of finished railcar mover before shipmentPrioritized work to ensure production areas and warehouse receive parts as neededUse a variety of hand and power tools following appropriate methods and proceduresMaintain a clean/organized work area through daily 5S and maintain equipment accordinglyComply with all stated Nordco safety requirements and company policiesOperation of overhead cranes, forklifts, and other lifting devicesSafe operation of finished mobile rail car moversTraining of new employees

What about the physical demands of the job?

 

Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, bend, work underneath equipment, reach above shoulders, and climbEmployee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.Employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-productsYou may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
