Job Summary:
The Painting & Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for performing painting projects on the Messiah Lifeways campus. Painting responsibilities include Enhanced Living and Nursing Care room turnover, neighborhood hallways, common areas in all three main buildings, and preventive maintenance on exterior building/cottage projects as assigned. This position is also responsible for maintaining the paint storage areas, labeling/cataloging stock, properly disposing of outdated paint, and maintaining a supply of commonly used products. This position also supports general maintenance duties as assigned, which includes on-call responsibilities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Carries out all assigned requests for patching and painting projects. These requests may include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Interior and exterior painting projects to include Enhanced Living and Nursing Care turnovers
b. Interior and exterior preventive maintenance/painting based upon campus schedule (exterior preventive maintenance includes cottage door frames, shutters, trim, doors, decks, etc.)
c. Wall/ceiling repairs and other painting prep
d. Other painting projects as assigned
e. Maintenance projects and support
2. Supports completion of general maintenance work orders independently or as part of a team effort. This includes, but is not limited to, maintenance and repair to building equipment, plumbing lines, and electrical systems.
a. When the Painting & Maintenance Technician does not have the knowledge required to adequately resolve a maintenance concern, they must be comfortable accessing resources or vendors to support a proper response.
3. On-call responsibilities: The Painting & Maintenance Technician supports the rotational on-call evening, weekend, and holiday coverage schedule for the Messiah Village campus (interior and exterior areas of Village Center, Village Commons, Village Square, cottages, and campus grounds). These on-call responsibilities include maintenance related issues, as well as safety and security duties and functions.
4. Willing to alter work schedule and response times to accommodate special needs such as snow removal and preventive maintenance projects.
5. Responds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies, ensuring the safety of residents, team members, vendors, and visitors. This includes assisting with fire alarms, ambulance transport, and unplanned incidents such as power or utility loss.
6. Follows proper tool handling and related procedures specific to working in a health provider environment.
7. Conscientious of safe work practices in order to maintain a safe working environment. If any unsafe conditions are discovered, they are to be reported to the Campus Services team immediately, and actions shall be taken to reduce the possibility of injury until a permanent solution can be applied.
8. Works cooperatively and productively with others including supervisors, residents, families, and other employees.
9. Confidentiality regarding resident information must be maintained in strict confidence, as well as other information pertaining to the business of Messiah Village.
10. Additional duties and tasks as assigned.
