Summary THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is part of the IN CSMS 1, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number D1217000. Responsibilities Prepares surfaces (i.e., metal, wood and glass) by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. Prepares coating materials by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in various additives (i.e., retardants, hardeners, drying agents, and other additives). Reads and interprets directions that relate to mixture, use, and application of various kinds of coating materials, solvents, and precoating agents Applies Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of surface preparation (removal of rust, dirt, paint, etc.); coating methods (brushing, rolling, and spraying); and coating materials (paints, varnishes, shellacs, etc.). Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the painting trade and to read and interpret directions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Experience must demonstrate the skill to sand, wire brush, scrape, spackle, putty, prep surfaces and select appropriate tools to complete assigned tasks. Experience must also demonstrate the skill to brush on, roll on, and spray coating materials, and apply other related methods and techniques, such as cutting-in techniques and dip and overflow methods. Experience which required the applicant to interpret and follow technical orders, specifications, and publications. Specialized Experience Requirements for NGB Federal Wage System Positions for claiming civilian job experience: Creditable experience must have been performed at least 30 consecutive days and be properly documented. Experience in the same line of work can only be credited on the basis of a regular 40-hour workweek. Hours per week MUST be documented on resume to receive any credit.
