Painting Worker Leader

About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. Responsibilities Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor. Secure paint, mixes to desired color and consistency, and fills paint pots as required. Check work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions. Utilize hoist as necessary to palletize component parts and secure them with strapping materials. Answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Insure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Perform surface preparation, which includes sanding, brushing and/or scraping, as well as application of rust inhibitors, paint removers, neutralizers, etc. Perform routine operator maintenance on painting equipment such as cleaning painting guns, paint pots, hoses and other related equipment with paint solvent. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Painting Worker Leader without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Painting Worker Leader duties which include leading others on prepping paint surfaces and coating paint surfaces with finish. I can secure paint, mix to desired color and consistency, and fill paint pots as required. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Practices in Construction, Structure Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Physical Efforts: Work routinely involves lifting, carrying, and handling heavy objects weighing in excess of 44 pounds. Incumbent frequently works in tiring positions, using bulky spray paint equipment. Incumbent must also stand for extended periods and work with a rhythmic set pace, reaching and bending. Hand and eye coordination in conjunction with muscular effort is required. Working Conditions: Works inside paint booth or under open air roof. There is continuous exposure to dust from surface preparation, as well as fumes from primers, thinners, paints, etc. (including CARC). Protective equipment is required (e.g., barrier cream, airline respirator with HEPA filter, goggles, coveralls, gloves, head covering). Education Please limit your resume to 5 pages.
