Learn more at HonorHealth.com. Responsibilities Job Summary The PARALEGAL performs paralegal duties at the direction of an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel. Assumes a primary role in the coordination of legal matters pertaining to the healthcare system. May interact with outside legal counsel representing the healthcare system in various legal matters. May prepare responses to interrogatories and other discovery requests; draft, review, revise correspondence; interact with other departments; conduct legal and non-legal research and provide analysis of results. May draft, review, revise, and negotiate contract agreements for products and services. May perform department administrative/operational functions, coordinate/attend meetings, and maintain records. Contract Review Support, which may include: Prepare and edit contracts between hospital and third-party vendors. Review and evaluate proposal plans and contract specifications. Negotiate contract terms, conditions, and pricing. Serve as a liaison with outside contracting representatives. Identify the need for amendments to existing contracts. Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract records. Claims and Litigation Support, which may include: Compiles, reviews and organizes evidence for litigation purposes. Conduct investigations and interviews with hospital employees to gather information critical to defense of hospital. Prepare responses to litigation discovery requests. Coordinates interviews of employees with outside counsel. Assist with preparation of hospital employees for deposition and/or court appearances. Responds to subpoenas and discovery requests in non-HH related litigation, including Arizona Medical Board, Arizona Nursing Board and other state regulatory agencies. Accept process and coordinate court appearances for employees testifying as witnesses in non-hospital related litigation, i.e., custodian of records, mental health hearings, sexual assault examiners, phlebotomists in DUI cases, and criminal proceedings. Corporate, Regulatory and Transactional Support, which may include: Assists in-house attorneys with special projects, acquisitions, joint ventures, business formation, and special projects. Drafts legal documents, agreements, correspondence and memorandums. Conducts legal research and prepare memoranda and/or opinions containing recommended action and/or solutions to issues. May be responsible for department administrative functions and creating new processes for improving operational efficiencies. Develops and maintains cost center budgets for departments within the Office of the General Counsel. Support reporting to insurance carriers. Coordinate billing with outside law firms. Qualifications Education Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies Required Experience 5 years as Paralegal in-house or corporate law Required
