Job Description Summary
The Paralegal will be expected to support the legal function in its mission to provide advice and counsel for a broad range of legal matters primarily focused on the franchising effort of our rapidly growing global hospitality organization. The role involves collaboration with the full spectrum of the company’s internal and external stakeholders, including our legal, franchise operations, franchise development, finance, accounting, and risk management teams, in addition to franchise owners. The Paralegal must embrace Sonesta’s principle of providing “Service with Passion” in support of our owners, our guests, and our employees.This role will be based at Sonesta's HQ in Newton, MA on a Hybrid work schedule of 2days remote/3 days in office.
Job Description
Monitoring, tracking, and assisting with all aspects of the franchise application, negotiation, and renewal processes.
Under supervision of our in-house attorneys, preparing and revising franchise agreements, amendments, and related documents.
Understanding and promoting compliance with Federal and State franchise laws and regulations, as part of the organization’s internal control process.
Analyzing and summarizing key contract terms, and compiling pertinent information about franchise agreements to enable the appropriate teams to take proactive steps for timely renewals.
Maintaining centralized records for franchise contract materials, to create an auditable trail for contract histories and proof of compliance.
Preparing correspondence on behalf of the legal department to assist with franchise development, operations, or litigation matters.
Assisting with the management of trademark- or franchise-related litigation, including responding to discovery requests.
Such other activities that may arise and that may be necessary or helpful in managing the company’s legal and franchising matters.
Additional Job Information
A candidate for this Paralegal (Franchising) position must possess the following relevant knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.).
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a law firm or in-house law department setting, or comparable government organization, with experience reviewing and analyzing contracts.
• Very strong organization and follow-through skills, keen attention to detail, sound judgment, common sense and discretion.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Solid people skills to interact and gather information from franchisees, corporate executives, and outside vendors, as necessary to coordinate licensing.
• Ability to work in a team and independently to produce high quality work product, in the course of supporting multiple in-house attorneys and internal clients.
• A drive for success and the ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.

Pay Range
Pay range: $70-75k. Base pay offer may vary depending on various factors, including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills and job specific/overall experience.
