Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal in our legal firm located in GARY, Indiana. The role involves assisting in various aspects of our Civil Litigation and Mediation practice, including drafting legal documents, coordinating trial details, and handling client inquiries. Responsibilities • Contribute to the preparation and execution of trials by coordinating necessary details • Draft and file court documents such as pleadings, motions, and appellate documents • Summarize medical records as part of case preparation • Manage the calendar for hearings and monitor deadlines to ensure timely actions • Perform various paralegal tasks as needed in the firm • Utilize Microsoft Office and Practice Management software for various tasks • Maintain excellent communication to facilitate smooth operations • Work both independently and as a part of a team to handle legal tasks efficiently Requirements • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field. • Should have a certification or experience in Litigation Paralegal. • Demonstrable knowledge of legal terminology, court system, and legal procedures is required. • Proficiency in using legal software programs and other computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. • Strong research and report generation abilities are necessary. • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively. • Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities are crucial. • Must maintain strict confidentiality and high ethical standards. • Demonstrable ability to work independently as well as part of a team. • Familiarity with case management and timekeeping software would be an added advantage. • Experience in preparing legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and real estate closing statements is required. • Must be proactive, able to meet deadlines under pressure, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Knowledge of electronic discovery, including document collection, review, and production processes is preferred. • Familiarity with e-filing in state and federal courts is a plus. • Ability to interact professionally and maintain a positive working relationship with clients, attorneys, and staff. • Should be able to provide administrative support to lawyer and enhance office effectiveness.
