Bunker & Ray, House Counsel for Chubb is currently seeking a Paralegal for its location in Philadelphia, PA.
Position Description:
Under the direction of counsel, duties shall include, but are not limited to: (1) Responsible for drafting pleadings and managing discovery in all venues including State and Federal Courts and administrative venues; (2) Responsible for reading, generating, and analyzing discovery and drafting discovery responses under the supervision of an assigned Attorney including answers to interrogatories, responses to Notice to Produce, authorizations for records, subpoenas and motions to comply discovery, etc.; (3) Responsible for communicating and interacting with adversaries, clients, and claims to exchange information and documentation relative to the litigation process; (4) Responsible for scheduling independent medical examinations as well as the preparation and submission of expert packages or inquiries; (5) Responsible for requesting and reviewing medical records; (6) Responsible for updating data and documenting communications in case file; (7) Responsible for preparing the case file for trial proceedings; (8) Responsible for scanning and processing mail; (9) Responsible for billing the appropriate file as work is performed, 10) Responsible for electronic filing of court pleadings, 11) responsible for document preparation under direction of counsel, and 12) Responsible for scheduling and noticing depositions and other litigation related events, and 13) Responsible for preparation of position papers under direction of counsel in employment matters filed with state agencies.
Competencies/Tech Skills:
Energetic individual with prior paralegal experience in a litigation law office required. Experience in handling personal injury insurance defense and employment matters is preferred. Excellent customer service manner and strong interpersonal skills are required. A strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of products is essential. The ability to navigate and effectively manage a case management system is required. Strong analytical skills, as well as advanced oral and written communication skills are necessary. Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work in a high volume office and team environment are essential. The candidate should be a highly self-motivated individual, possess high initiative and have the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment effectively.
Education:
Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. Certificate of completion from a recognized paralegal training program is preferred but not required.
