Job Description
Position Summary
Brookfield Properties has an immediate need for a Paralegal at the corporate office in Chicago, IL.
Brookfield Properties’ Legal Leasing team proactively provides legal and other consultative services in a variety of contractual matters affecting the Company's businesses and operations. The Legal Leasing group’s focus on partnering with its clients, strong commitment to quality legal representation and collegial team atmosphere, make this an outstanding place to participate in the practice of sophisticated corporate and transactional law.
The Paralegal is an integral member of the Legal Leasing group working closely with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals to support in all matters of real estate, leasing, and transactional law. To be successful in this role, the Paralegal must have the poise and self-awareness to seek out help and ask questions when necessary, and the capacity to learn the skills and confidences to act independently as needed once established in the role.

Responsibilities
Negotiate, draft, and review real estate related documents and leases that are clear, legally sound, and in terms favorable to the Company
Address legal inquiries and issues regarding use and operation from shopping center tenants by reviewing and analyzing leases and contractual documents
Ensure that all agreements and contractual arrangements entered into on behalf of the Company comply with applicable corporate approvals
Develop and maintain open communication and good working relationships with tenants and employee clients
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required
Minimum 3 years relevant experience preferred
Experience working directly with deal teams is preferred
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Research and analytical skills preferred
Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and exemplary work ethic
Compensation
Salary type: Exempt
Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly
Annual Base Salary Range: $70,000- $85,000
Annual Bonus: 10%
