Job Overview:
Manage the receipt of new legal matters including claims, subpoenas, and lawsuits to ensure proper handling. Closely monitor all deadlines and communicate status of subpoenas and discovery requests with Claims Manager and General Counsel. Review and compile company records in response to discovery requests and subpoenas. Support General Counsels in all aspects of legal work including document preparation, reports, and communications.
Your Responsibilities:
Coordinate with General Counsel, management teams, client’s counsel, and outside counsel to respond to discovery requests, including gathering responsive documents and company records. Manage the subpoena process from intake through production. This will include closely watching deadlines, maintaining communication with parties, reviewing documents, redacting confidential information, producing responsive documents, withholding privileged documents, invoicing, and tracking payments. Assist General Counsel and Claims Manager with the intake of all new legal matters and handling of lawsuits, claims, and agency complaints; including investigation, calendaring, follow up, and data entry into legal databases. Respond to inquiries and requests from associates, outside counsel, and others then coordinate with General Counsel on such matters. Develop a strong familiarity of all company systems, servers, programs, and data storage locations to locate and retrieve documents responsive to discovery requests. Extensive use of E-Discovery software to review records and apply subjective and objective coding to produce records in response to discovery and records requests. Assist General Counsel by preparing, sending, and tracking Litigation Holds internally. Assist General Counsel and other Legal Staff with projects, presentations, reports, correspondence, or assignments as requested.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of five years related experience working in a law firm, legal department and/or in-house legal department setting. Florida Registered Paralegal preferred. Ability to manage own workload independently, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure. Ability to work well independently, as well as in a team environment. Must be self-driven. Detail-oriented with excellent organization, planning, motivation, and interpersonal skill Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, complex problem solving, judgment, and decision-making abilities related to legal information and documents. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong proficiency in eDiscovery software, Windows, and Microsoft Office programs, including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Proficiency researching the Internet. Will be trained on Proprietary Management Software. Ability to work with sensitive or confidential information.
