Description
Purpose of Position:
Paralegal to support both the Legal and HR teams in a variety of critical tasks, including contract review, legal research, and HR project support. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on legal matters, manage contracts, and assist with key HR initiatives across the organization, ensuring compliance with legal standards and supporting the successful execution of projects. You will play a vital role in maintaining legal and regulatory compliance, improving internal processes, and driving HR-related compliance projects forward.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
HR Project Support:
· Collaborate with HR on special projects that require legal insight, such as updating policies, conducting compliance audits, and ensuring the legal soundness of HR practices.
· Assist in drafting and revising the employee handbook, training manuals, and internal guidelines to ensure alignment with the latest legal standards and company policies.
· Support the development and implementation of new HR policies or revisions to existing policies, ensuring legal compliance in all areas.
· Track HR projects to ensure timely completion and legal compliance, providing updates to HR leadership as needed.
· Review and analyze payroll reports to identify areas of potential non-compliance, particularly in relation to employee separations, and other wage and hour issues. Work with HR teams to address any discrepancies or compliance gaps.
· Oversee the management of all employee sponsorships, collaborating with legal counsel to ensure timely filing and compliance.
Legal Support:
Contract Review:
Review, draft, and update contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to employment, vendor agreements, and company policies, ensuring they are legally sound and aligned with company objectives.
Legal Research:
Conduct legal research on employment law, labor regulations, and other relevant legal matters. Provide clear and concise summaries of findings to assist legal and HR teams.
Assist in preparing materials for internal investigations, employee disputes, and litigation, as necessary.
Manage and maintain legal case files and documentation, ensuring all information is organized and easily accessible.
Help ensure compliance with company-wide legal initiatives, including reviewing policies and procedures for adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
General Responsibilities:
Ensure that all legal and HR documentation complies with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Serve as a point of contact for both the Legal and HR teams for document management, policy clarifications, and compliance questions.
Contribute to the overall success of Legal and HR teams by supporting key initiatives and projects with a focus on legal compliance and operational efficiency.
Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive legal and HR matters.
Monitor emerging statues and regulations for human resource implications and changes across various states in which Sportsman’s operates.

Requirements
Education/Experience:
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Human Resources, or related field. Paralegal certification is preferred.
Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal, with specific experience in contract review, legal research, and exposure to employment law or HR practices.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of contract law, employment law, and best practices.
Proficient in reviewing and drafting contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
Exceptional research skills and the ability to summarize complex legal issues in a clear, actionable way.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams, balancing legal and HR priorities.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
Professional and confidential in handling sensitive information.
Collaborative, team-oriented approach with proactive problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and managing shifting priorities.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Paralegal certification is preferred.

The employee may be required to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity at 20 inches or less due to computer work.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a moderate noise level (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
Travel Requirements:
This position requires some travel, up to 10%.
