POSITION SUMMARY
Assists the Labor & Employment Solicitors by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviews clients and witnesses; researches, investigates, and fact checks; and court or quasi-judicial related preparation.
A perk of this position includes some remote work flexibility in a hybrid work schedule!

NOTE: The City of Pittsburgh, as a matter of policy, conducts pre-employment and promotional background investigations on all candidates being considered for positions. Qualifying Requirements :
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
+ WORK EXPERIENCE: The ideal applicant will have three (3) years of full-time experience related to Labor & Employment matters. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
+ EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a minimum of an Associate's Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred) in Paralegal studies or a related field. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).
+ EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is five (5) years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).
CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATIONS
If you meet the qualifying requirements listed above, you will be sent a letter of admission (when applicable) for the following examination(s). You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) in order to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position. Candidates who receive job offers must pass a medical examination (when applicable) prior to start date.

POSITION DUTIES
+ Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
+ Drafts legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
+ Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
+ Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
+ Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
+ Assists attorneys with and court or quasi-judicial related preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
+ Consistently answers phones, takes and gives messages and maintains confidentiality.
+ Calls clients; coordinates appointments and phone calls.
+ Coordinates client logistics.
+ Drafts and sends client correspondence.
+ Prepares agendas for client meetings.
+ Manages workflow and controls calendar for Associate and Assistant Solicitors.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned.
