This is a fully remote/virtual position leading a team of California paralegals!
Job Summary Oversees a team of paralegals that support attorneys in multiple branch legal offices. Includes oversight, development, training, and performance management of assigned paralegals. Assists with legal office administration and perform special assignments as assigned by leadership. Assists attorneys with trial and motion preparation, discovery and attend trials and meetings with clients and claims professionals to ensure overall quality results in all matters handled by Branch Legal Office (BLO).Essential Job Functions Monitors all aspects of team performance including customer experience, work product quality, productivity, and compliance with claims legal strategy and objectives. Supervises paralegals in one or more branch legal offices to include implementation of paralegal processes and procedures. Fosters an inclusive work environment where behaviors lead to positive operational outcomes. Recruits, hires, conducts onboarding and training for new paralegals. In compliance with State Bar rules: Paralegal supervisor may assist attorneys in answering interrogatories; interviews clients and reduces answers to writing; reviews work with attorneys and prepares answers in final form. Obtains, reviews and summarizes medical records at the direction of trial attorneys and reviewed by experts as necessary. Arranges for medical examinations. Assists attorneys in preparing motions and researches legal points in connection therewith. Assists attorneys in interviewing witnesses preparatory to and during trials as necessary. Assists attorneys in preparing documents and evidence for trial to ensure overall quality results in all matters handled by Branch Legal Office (BLO). Translates claims strategy with feedback from direct leadership. Physical Actions This role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions. Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.Education Requirements Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Completion of a certified paralegal program. Upon Hire.Experience Requirements 5-7 years of experience as a paralegal or comparable work in a legal office required.
