General Summary:

The Emergency Services Paramedic may perform emergency medical services only under the direction and supervision of a physician or registered nurse designated by a physician and only in the hospital's emergency department or while moving a patient between the emergency department and another department. The Paramedic is accountable for the delivery of patient care within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of Fisher Titus Medical Center.

Essential Functions: Performs the following, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Physician or Physician Assistant. Collection and documentation of patient data, including but not limited to. Vital signs, patient weight, patient assessment and procedures performed. Reports observations and condition changes to RN and/or physician in a timely manner. Obtain 12-lead EKG and/or initiate Telemetry monitoring. Peripheral blood draws and bedside point-of-care testing. Initiation and discontinuation of intravenous lines and intraosseous (IO) access. Daily completion of quality control for point-of-care testing. Prepares patients for environment of exam. Specimen collection Interprets cardiac rhythms and initiates appropriate treatment. Limited medication administration as defined by Fisher Titus Medical Center, not exceeding the scope of practice as defined within the Ohio Administrative Code. Initiates respiratory interventions including oxygen therapy and assistance with preparation for intubation per physician order or protocol. Transports and monitors stable telemetry and non-telemetry patients. Performs visual acuity, eye irrigations and equipment setups. Participates as a team member for Stroke, STEMI, Trauma and Code Blue response.
