PARAMEDIC

  POSITION PURPOSE

Assist with patient care by performing clinical and supportive functions that they have document competency to perform. The Paramedic adheres to policy, procedures, as well as established standards of practice.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

Minimum High School Diploma or GED

  MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Entry Level

  LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Current BLS and ACLS required Paramedic Certification in good standing in the State of Wisconsin
 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Function within organizational policy and the Wisconsin EMS Scope of Practice for the Paramedic. Safely perform patient care skills in accordance with organizational policy/ procedure after competence has been validated.  Collaborate with the Registered Nurse and/or the Respiratory Therapist to administer medications per physician orders and in accordance with policy/procedure. Collaborates with the Respiratory Therapist to safely administers oxygen therapy in various modalities, including non-invasive positive pressure ventilation, as ordered by the physician. Demonstrate communication and leadership skills by collaborating with members of the health care team to achieve positive patient outcomes within established timeframes. Recognize the occurrence of life-threatening situations and emergencies and takes the appropriate actions in a timely manner. Collect patient data and assist with direct patient care activities such as Admission intake information, End tidal CO2 monitoring, vital sign monitoring, patient positioning/mobility, blood administration, telemetry monitoring/ interpretation, 12 lead EKG, etc. Communicate findings and pertinent information to the healthcare team. Safely use patient care and equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and organizational policy/procedure as appropriate.
