POSITION SUMMARY

 

Support various task orders that include disaster relief, COVID-19 vaccinations, hospital support or ground ambulance services. Each task order has different elements to the overall position. Responsibilities may include some or all of the items listed below.  

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

May respond emergency medical dispatch requests and drive specifically equipped emergency vehicle Determine nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance, basing decisions on statements of people involved, examination of victim or victims, and knowledge of emergency medical practice Administer consistent, high quality prescribed first-aid treatment at site of emergency. Performing such activities as: opening and maintaining an airway; ventilating patients; administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation; using automated external defibrillators; administration of intravenous injections and medication administration; treatment of minor wounds or abrasions; and application of splints Provide pre-hospital emergency medical care of simple and multiple system traumas such as: controlling hemorrhage; treatment of shock (hypo perfusion); bandaging wounds; immobilization of painful, swollen, or deformed extremities; and immobilization of painful, swollen, or deformed neck or spine Assess nature and extent of illness or magnitude of crisis and provides appropriate emergency medical care Perform or assist in removal of victims from scene of accident or catastrophe if needed Assist clinic professional staff with patient care to include: intake, registration and triage Maintain vehicles, medical and communication equipment in accordance with state and federal regulations Maintains timely, legible, highly accurate recordkeeping as required by the Company, local, state and federal regulations Display an exemplary, safe, professional demeanor at all times Practice absolute professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and competency with patients, their families, the public, other agencies and coworkers Attend continuing education and refresher training programs as required by employers, medical control, licensing or certifying agencies Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a member in good standing with local County Rescue or EMS Agency Knowledge of medical protocols, policies, and procedures required College coursework preferred, but not required Must have valid driver's license Up-to-date certifications: Valid State EMS license Valid CPR card ACLS card Hep B. or declination ICS 100 ICS 200 (recommended but not required) ICS 700 ICS 800 Must be able to lift, lower, carry, push or move objects up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift 100 or more lbs with assistance. Various tasks may require intermittent standing or prolonged sitting, and the ability to walk, reach, kneel, crouch and handle work related supplies and tools. Additional details related to physical requirements may be outlined in the Company's Performance Work Statement or Contract with the client.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday standard core hours, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details related to specific working conditions may be outlined in your Statement of Work or Employment Agreement.
