Essential Functions:
Patient Assessment: Perform thorough assessments of patients with traumatic injuries or medical emergencies, documenting findings accurately in the patient record.Triage & Care Planning: Triages and prioritizes patient needs, ensuring a clear, effective care plan is developed and followed based on the patient’s condition and established protocols.Ongoing Evaluation: Continuously monitor patient status during transport or at the scene, adjusting the care plan as necessary based on changes in the patient’s health condition.Clinical Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all interventions, patient responses, and treatment provided in line with MercyOne standards and protocols.Intervention Execution: Deliver emergency medical care in accordance with established MercyOne protocols, documenting responses to treatments and interventions.Equipment Management: Ensure all medical equipment and supplies are checked daily, properly maintained, and replenished after each transport.Safe Vehicle Operation: Operate emergency response vehicles safely, ensuring the timely and secure transport of patients to the appropriate healthcare facilities.Event Stand-by Services: Provide EMS services during public or private events, ensuring rapid response to any medical emergencies.Station Responsibilities: Assist with station upkeep, including routine cleaning, restocking, and equipment maintenance to ensure readiness for emergency calls.Marginal Functions:
Mentorship: Assist in mentoring EMS students and new paramedics, sharing knowledge and experience to support their professional development.Staff Training: Aid in orienting new staff to MercyOne’s protocols and ensuring they understand the organization’s mission and values.Hospital Support: Provide care in the Emergency Department or critical care units during times when you are not directly engaged with ambulance services.Line Insertion Assistance: Provide assistance to hospital staff in performing difficult peripheral line insertions for patients when required.Licensing and Certification Requirements:
Current Paramedic License: You must hold a valid state Paramedic certification. This is a mandatory requirement for the role.Additional Certifications: Must possess or be willing to obtain certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).Experience: A proven track record of providing high-quality emergency medical care, with the ability to triage, assess, and treat patients in various emergency situations.Knowledge: In-depth understanding of emergency medical procedures and protocols.
