Paramedic - Ground Transportation LS3 Position 4

This position is responsible for providing prehospital Advanced Life Support to victims of sudden illness or injury in the designated service areas of the EMS system and provides appropriate mutual aid assistance when requested by adjacent ALS services. The ALS Paramedic demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all ages, inclusive of neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics in the ALS and Critical Care environments.  Additionally, the ALS Paramedic demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to access data reflective of the patient's status, and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to his or her age-specific needs.

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred Associates Degree or higher. 1-3 years of work experience preferred.

Certification/Licensure: 

Valid driver’s license in NJ in accordance with Inspira Health’s Fleet Safety ADM.291*IHN*. Employee must hold or be eligible for reciprocity advanced life provider Paramedic, as recognized by the New Jersey State Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services. This includes a certified paramedic as indicated in N.J.A.C. Chapter 41.  Basic Life Support (AHA Only) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA Only) required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support required. Certification in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or International Trauma Life Support is preferred.

Position Responsibilities

Safety Awareness:

•Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established organizational safety rules & practices. •Reports to supervisor in a timely manner any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to patients, staff & visitors. •Reports any problems, failures or damages to supervisor and/or takes appropriate action. •Maintains clean & orderly work area.

Productivity/ Time Management:

•Seeks to achieve the highest quality outcomes by following established standards. •Makes effective use of time and completes work accurately. •Remains flexible & open to change. •Identifies priorities & develops work plan accordingly to achieve maximum productivity.

ALS Care:

•Provides ALS care to patients of all ages in accordance to the standards set forth by the Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum, the guidelines of the American Heart Association, the American College of Surgeons, the New Jersey State Department of Health - Office of Emergency Medical Services (Chapter 41 of the New Jersey Administrative Code) and EMS Department Policy.

BLS Care:

•Performs all basic life support skills as required under N.J.A.C. 8:40. Physical Requirements:
