The role you’ll contribute:

In the AdventHealth Hospital at Home (AH HaH) Program, the Paramedic is responsible for providing patients with support treatment, care, and evaluations. The Paramedic will be well-integrated with the care of each patient.

Provides primary patient care activities on transports approved to be at the ALS level by the EMS Medical Director.

Provides patient care activities from Provider orders to patients transferred to the hospital at home program, this includes in home visits as needed.

Assesses, plans, implements intervention, and evaluates the appropriate level of patient care according to State ALS scope of practice, EMS Protocols, department policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the following:

Chronic Ventilator Support

BiPAP/CPAP

Nebulized Medications in handheld or mask nebulizers

Non-invasive Monitoring (EKG, SpO2, NIBP, EtCO2)

Transcutaneous Pacer Support

Non-titratable infusions

Blood Products

Peripheral IV insertion

IV Maintenance

Blood Glucose monitoring

Wound Care

Previously established Chest Tubes, drains, tubes, ostomies, wound vac

Previously accessed ports established central venous lines, arterial sheaths, and temporary dialysis catheters.

Inter-Osseous Placement/Established Access (IO)

Non-intubated/Mechanically Ventilated post arrest patients.

Advanced Airway Providers, ETT, LMA with manual/temporary ventilatory support, No RSI.

All BLS Therapies as defined by department protocols

Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions and treatments, as appropriate

Provides overnight coverage to patients

Educates patients and family members about patient illnesses and clinical interventions

Documents in the EMR

Inspects and maintains equipment to ensure the safety of transport team members, patients, and the general public

Monitors and anticipates needs for additional equipment and appropriately secures tools to meet patient care demands during transport

Operates emergency vehicles safely in a variety of weather and emergent conditions in accordance to established safety standards. Effectively communicates delays and updates to dispatch. Immediately reports any damage or vehicle issues to the supervisor

Responsible for maintaining equipment between transports. Maintains the unit in a constant state of readiness

Adheres to department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Ensures patient documentation is accurate, complete and is in compliance at all times

Completes medication, supplies and equipment inventories each shift, restocking as needed. Completes and submits logs as per department protocol

Performs other duties as assigned

Complies with the Corporate Institutional Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines

Demonstrates compliance with all federal, state and local laws; rules and government

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

Minimum qualifications:

One year of medical emergency experience

Graduated from an Paramedic program

American Heart - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

American Heart - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

American Heart - Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certification

Paramedic license required from the respective state board and/or respective state equivalent

Valid Class E State Driver’s License, or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and driving record in accordance with facility policy

Commercial Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)

Preferred qualifications:

Associates of Science in health-related field

One-year experience emergency vehicle operations

Ambulance transport experience

National Registry
