Paramedic Supervisor - Allen Hospital

Shift/Schedule:

Full Time - Scheduled for 40 Weekly HoursShift Times - Days

Overview: The Paramedic Supervisor plans, directs, conducts, and evaluates daily operational activities of the EMS department, ensuring smooth operations and the provision of high-quality emergency medical services.

Position Summary:

Ensures staffing and personnel management: Assures adequate staffing and optimum utilization of personnel, interviews, hires, and directs departmental personnel, ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.Fosters continuous learning and professional growth: Identifies training needs, coordinates educational opportunities, and provides mentorship. Ensures annual competencies are completed to maintain skill proficiency.Promotes staff well-being and morale: Fosters a supportive work environment, addresses concerns or grievances, and implements strategies for employee satisfaction and retention.Participates in county EMS and review boards: Actively participates in county EMS and 911 review boards and facilitates cooperation with emergency services, police, and fire departments.Responds to emergency and transport requests: Renders care to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients during routine transport and emergency 911 calls.Provides assistance to nursing personnel: Assists nursing personnel in the Emergency Department and other departments as needed, ensuring collaboration across different teams.Oversees patient care coordination: Manages seamless transitions between pre-hospital care and hospital admission by consulting with hospital staff and facilitating patient handovers.Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration: Promotes collaboration with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care delivery.Ensures compliance with regulatory standards: Stays abreast of regulations and ensures compliance, facilitating audits or inspections as necessary.Implements quality assurance and process improvements: Monitors and evaluates EMS service quality, implements quality assurance measures, and seeks opportunities for improvement.Assists with Emergency Department operations: Provides day-to-day support to the Manager of Emergency Services in ensuring adequate staffing, personnel management, and regulatory compliance.Ensures financial accountability: Requests additional expenses or resource allocations through the Emergency Department Manager, maintaining fiscal responsibility.Monitors performance metrics and reporting: Collaborates with the EMS Manager to establish and report on key performance indicators, including response times and patient outcomes.Oversees equipment maintenance and inventory: Ensures the effective management of EMS equipment and inventory levels through regular inspections and maintenance schedules.Develops and executes emergency preparedness plans: Collaborates with Emergency Management stakeholders to develop, review, and execute comprehensive emergency preparedness plans, ensuring the department's readiness through regular drills and training exercises.Promotes the institution’s philosophy, mission, and values: Upholds and promotes the institution’s philosophy, mission, and values during all interactions with patients, families, staff, and others.Engages in community outreach and public relations: Promotes public health initiatives and fosters relationships with local government, community organizations, and healthcare providers.Manages timecards and payroll tracking: Oversees the timely and accurate submission of employee timecards, verifies accuracy, and addresses discrepancies. Ensures that timecards are finalized and approved at the end of each pay period to facilitate efficient payroll operations.

Position Requirements:

Education:

High school education or equivalency (Required).Certification: Graduate of an accredited Paramedic program with a current State of Ohio license (Required).Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (Required).Driving qualifications: Valid driver’s license with a driving record permitting insurability under the hospital’s insurance (Required).Instructor qualifications: Paramedic instructor certification (Preferred).

Experience:

Six years as a field paramedic and Emergency Department experience (Preferred).Instructor experience: EMT Instructor (Preferred).Supervisory experience: Minimum of three years of supervisory experience (Preferred).Knowledge in pre-hospital care: Demonstrated knowledge and competence in all aspects of emergency pre-hospital care.Familiarity with service area: Familiarity with the service area is required.
