EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part time Parent Educator to join the Enhanced Long Island Parenting Institute Program. Salary: $30 - 34/ hour Schedule:9AM-3PM, Monday- Thursday. Evening and Weekend as Required. Location: Central Islip, NY Reports to: Program Director What drives the core purpose of this job: The Parent Educator will provide home-based education to pregnant and parenting people and their family members impacted by Opioid Use Disorders. The Parent Educator will conduct workshops, classes, and individual/family sessions in EAC offices, community centers, and client homes. The Parent Educator will represent EAC NETWORK’s Enhanced LIPI Program at community events when needed. What are the key responsibilities: + Provide parent training to pregnant and parenting people and their family members utilizing a combination of cognitive behavioral tools along with evidenced-based curricula. + Maintain progress notes, provide regular contact and updates with clients and supervisor. + Responsible for correspondence to confirm participation for clients. + Communicate with DSS and the courts to report on progress of clients. + Conduct parenting sessions within client homes, community centers, and virtually when needed. + Work evenings and weekends as required. What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role: + Bachelor’s degree in social work, human or social sciences required. Master’s degree in social work or mental health counseling preferred. + Must have two years of experience in Human Services or working with parents and children, including experience with families in crisis. + Must have good communication skills, both oral and written. + Must have ability to work cooperatively with Department of Social Services, substance use agencies, and domestic violence agency professionals and other professionals interfacing with program clients. + Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments. + Access to motor vehicle and NYS driver's license.
