The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by Cognia, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.
Position Summary
Working from the office in Duluth, GA, the Parent Engagement Representative (School Year 2025-2026) supports newly enrolled families in acclimating to the virtual learning environment. This individual will play a critical role in engaging Caretakers and ensuring students are adjusting successfully to online education. The ideal candidate will have experience creating and presenting to both adults and students, assessing the success of engagement programs, and fostering strong school-community connections. Some evening and weekend hours may be required for events and meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
Active Georgia Teaching or Counseling Certificate (required). Experience working in a classroom or school environment. Strong background in engaging families and students in educational settings.Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in education Prior experience with Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO) or Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) Proven ability to create and deliver presentations to adults and students. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and develop engagement opportunities from the ground up. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Team player track record; ability to collaborate Possesses a positive customer service attitude in interactions with all stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment Flexible and willing to provide and receive constructive feedback Must be able and willing to conduct and participate in collaborative meetings, professional development sessions, and events at the GACA office and/or other locations as needed. The applicant should be prepared to attend events and meetings at the GACA office in Duluth, as well as travel to meet with students in different regions of the state throughout the year. Family & Student Engagement
Serve as the primary point of contact for newly enrolled families, assisting them with their transition to virtual learning. Proactively reach out to Caretakers to assess student progress and provide guidance on engagement strategies. Develop initiatives to enhance family involvement and student participation in school activities. Attend and actively participate in school field trips and in-person events across the state of Georgia. Manage student, family, and staff written communication i.e. District Newsletter, School Event announcements and reminders, etc.Training & Staff Development
Train teachers and staff members on effective strategies to engage and connect with students and parents during events. Create and lead professional development sessions focused on engagement techniques in a virtual setting for all school levels (Elementary, Middle, and High School) Collaborate with faculty to ensure best practices are in place for fostering student success. Work with the Director of Federal Programs to ensure presentations and data collection is compliant with state and federal standards.Event Planning & Community Outreach
Develop engagement opportunities, even in low-participation situations, to foster a sense of community within the virtual school. Organize and lead virtual and in-person engagement events tailored to meet the needs of families. Serve as the main point of contact for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), ensuring strong collaboration and communication.Program Assessment & Improvement
Evaluate engagement programs and strategies, adjusting approaches to ensure effectiveness. Use data-driven decision-making to assess the impact of family engagement efforts. Provide regular reports on engagement trends and program outcomes. Attend Professional Learning Opportunities to enhance the professional development of Parent and Community Engagement.
