The applicant must possess good visitor service and administrative skills and be able to work independently. The applicant must be able to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays. Pay: Base salary $3,093.09 month/$37,117.08annual Your Specific Responsibilities: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory. This is moderately independent work providing Visitor Services, Maintenance, Administration and Protection of Oscar Scherer State Park. VISITOR SERVICES–Coordinates volunteer program and special events for the park. Facilitates all aspects of volunteer program including, but not limited to, training recruitment, scheduling and reporting. Assists in assuring effective development and facilitation of park’s interpretive programming. Develops park specific interpretive literature, coordinates brochure and other literature needs. Resolves and responds to visitor queries and assists in the training of park staff to assure information afforded the public is accurate and presented in a professional manner. Coordinate and develop special events and programming in the park and community. Plans and conducts community outreach activities to expand public understanding of the Florida Park Service resource management and protection objectives, represents the park and Florida Park Service to outside agencies and organizations, disseminating information and promoting outdoor recreational opportunities provided by the park. Prepares reports and records as required. Provides natural and cultural history interpretive programs and services via presentations, walks and other programs and unit specific services as directed. MAINTENANCE-Maintains park facilities, equipment and grounds through routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance practices. Conducts routine inspections to ensure proper maintenance standards are met. Maintains cleanliness of grounds and facilities. Cleans restrooms and park areas as directed. ADMINISTRATION-Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as they pertain to duties described. Perform other administrative duties as required. Answers telephone, operates park radio, computer and various office equipment. Conducts purchasing and fiscal activities with established procedures. Collects fees, performs cash register/point of sale transactions and reconciles receipts. PROTECTION-Performs routine patrols and security checks; ensures adherence to the Park Protection Plan. Opens and/or secures park facilities as appropriate. Interprets and enforces park rules pertaining to all natural and cultural resources and facilities and use thereof for the safety and enjoyment of the visitor. Responsible for security of cash fund. OTHER–Performs other related duties as required.
