GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Education – Vision Outreach Services (VOS) provides programming for people of all ages with vision impairments in the State of Wyoming. This part-time AWEC position provides driving and accessibility support to VOS staff. This position will work under the guidance and direction of a Vision Outreach Services Consultant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
+ Drive VOS staff to scheduled appointments, meetings, conferences, and other work-related activities held statewide.
+ Provide clerical support, reading, visual information, and other accessibility adaptations.
+ Collaborate with staff to meet customer needs.
+ Assist in troubleshooting technology issues on vision-based devices.
+ Lift heavy assistive technology devices.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in working with individuals who are blind or have low vision,
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in providing instruction to adults.
Preference may be given to applicants with applicants who have experience in working as a driver providing driving and accessibility support.
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Understanding of all rules related to driving a motor vehicle.
+ Customer service-oriented, able to professionally work with individuals who are blind and the other agencies that support them and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
+ Understanding of confidentiality and ability to apply these principles when working with client and agency information.
+ Basic computer knowledge.

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, driving an automobile, etc.
+ The employee must be able to lift heavy assistive technology devices.
NOTES:
+ FLSA: Non-exempt hourly
+ Travel is estimated at 60%
+ Applicants may be asked to provide transcripts of any relevant coursework at the time of the interview or hire.
+ Successful candidates must pass a fingerprinting, background, and reference check.
+ This is a Part-time At-Will Employee Contract Position (AWEC)
