Responsibilities

The Imaging Core facility is looking for a part-time Histology Technician (25–32 hr/wk). This person is needed for intake and preparation for biological samples of microscopic analysis using paraffin, cryo and/ or resin fixation, embedding and sectioning techniques.

 

Responsibilities:

Performing special staining and protocol design.Conducting routine maintenance on histology equipment.Further training on various microscopes and other instruments will be included based on workload and interest. Minimum Qualifications Excellent organization skills.Must be team oriented, personable, and able to deal with diverse personalities.Must be able to take direction, follow instructions and keep meticulous records.Must be reliable and self-driven with a high attention to detail.Excellent oral and written communication skills, customer service skills and an ability to work independently are a must.Basic computer skills to include knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

 

Preferred Qualifications

One year of histology laboratory or related laboratory experience highly desired. BA/BS degree in one of the biological sciences, physics or chemistry is preferred.

 

Experience/nnowledge of preparatory methods for light and/or electron microscopy, experience with specimen fixation, embedding, sectioning and staining techniques are also desired.

Work Hours

Flexible part-time hours, 25–32 hours/week.
