Under general supervision, the job responsibilities include but not limited to: Description of Duties + Maintain a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies + Enforce normal school system and/or state regulations while transporting groups + Responsible for meeting state driver licensure requirements and obeys all laws for operation of a school bus + Provide a means of transportation for students/staff of the Georgia School for the Deaf + Completes all start up and shut down procedures including set up and break down of stairs/railings/leveling, charging, checking gas, oil, water and fluids levels + Responsible for reporting mechanical defects upon detection to supervisor + Demonstrate courteous and respectful behavior with students, staff and the general public + Clean the bus at the end of each trip, stay with groups on all trips + Perform pre and post trip safety and maintenance checks + Advise supervisor of any maintenance or repair needs + Complete records of all trips and submit them weekly + Prohibit food and smoking or unsafe conduct on bus + Stay with groups on all trips Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: + At least 3 years of school bus driving experience + Knowledge of basic motor vehicle and school bus operation + Knowledge of school bus safety policies and procedures + Possess ASL sign language skills **Part-time hourly position with no benefits.
