Position description The UCLA Master of Quantitative Economics program (MQE) invites applications for a part-time (50%) Visiting Assistant Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor with domain expertise in machine learning emphasizing applications to the fields of economics and finance for Winter 2025 quarter (payroll dates: January 1, 2025 - March 31, 2025; instruction dates: January 6, 2025 - March 14, 2025). A reasonable estimate for this position is $151,507-$183,790.
 The Visiting Assistant/Associate/Professor will develop and teach applied Machine Learning course(s) within the Master of Quantitative Economics program.
Responsibilities of the position will include developing the syllabus and course; delivering lectures and applied lessons; holding regularly scheduled weekly office hours; being responsive and helpful to students; developing and grading assignments; providing guidance to students involved in co-curricular applied projects; and continued research and service.
 Applicants are expected to have: • Doctoral degree or higher in economics, data analytics, statistics, computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent • Experience applying a variety of machine learning techniques in industry, such as supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, classification, clustering, and deep learning. Applications in economics and finance are a strong plus • Excellent verbal communication skills, capable of leading lectures of 75+ students • Advanced knowledge of the application of technical or mathematical concept to professional settings • Demonstrated research and service experience within an academic setting Qualifications Basic qualifications • Doctoral degree or higher in economics, data analytics, statistics, computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent • Experience applying a variety of machine learning techniques in industry, such as supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, classification, clustering, and deep learning.
