What does it mean to be a part of our Maintenance team? 

In this role, you are responsible for all repairs and ongoing maintenance of the facility. You will maintain and order supplies/parts as needed while also providing recommendations to repair and replace equipment to ensure proper functioning. You will conduct regular facility inspections and assist in developing a preventative maintenance schedule. In this role, you work independently within the facility on any maintenance needs that may arise. 

The building maintenance team is responsible for repairing and ongoing maintenance of the facility. You will conduct regular facility inspections and assist in developing a preventative maintenance schedule.

Part-Time Schedule: Monday – Friday

Hours: 8:00am – 2:00pm 

Experience:

·       1+ year of on-the-job experience with electronics, hydraulics, and mechanical equipment

·       1+ year of experience with industrial batteries and chargers

·       1+ year of experience performing various building repairs as needed, examples are but not limit too, Doors and door hardware, floor drains, plumbing and drain clearing, painting, etc.

·       Comfortable working with electricity and understand limitations

·       Experience working with HVAC systems, filter changes and basic troubleshooting (RTU’s, Air Handlers, Floor heating units)

·       Demonstrated experience working on Loading Dock equipment, Garage doors, Dock Levelers, and Dock Locks.  Must be able to make complex repairs to equipment.

·       Tool Crib inventory management desired

·       Commercial roofing experience a plus

·       Industrial Refrigeration experience, a plus

·       Natural Gas Generator experience, a plus

·       Larger Commercial Fire Suppression System experience, a plus

Requirements:

·       Be on call 24/7 for Alarm response.

·       Proven CMMS experience, must be comfortable using a computer / tablet and email

·       Capable of performing Preventative Maintenance Tasks, Troubleshooting, Documentation, and recommending further action while keeping focus on production demands.

·       Must be comfortable working at height on scissor lift or in basket

·       Work with Vendors and 3rd parties as needed

·       Maintain a neat, clean and safe work area

·       Be willing to work (5) 6 hours shifts Monday through Friday and overtime when and if required

·       Willing to work in extreme environments, temperatures -20 degrees F (freezer) and ambient outside temperatures.

·       Comfortable working in a union environment and within the contract rules

·       Other work duties as assigned

·       Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

·       Must work at all times with Safety in mind and wear appropriate PPE

·       Knowledge of LOTO, Fall Protection,

·       Must work with a team and independently as needed

·       Oral and written communication skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, building drawings.

·       Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

·       Clearly communicate concerns with other associates and build relationships with employees, supervisors/managers, customers, as well as outside contractors

·       Excellent mechanical aptitude

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

•        1+ year of technical maintenance or related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training

•        Certified Material Handling Mechanic helpful

•        Valid driver’s license

Onsite Role:

·       This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.

·       Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.  

·       Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.

·       Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.  

·       Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.  

·       Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.  Ability to operate work-related equipment.

·       Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
