Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant provides health care services to patients under the direction and responsibility of a physician.
Essential Roles and ResponsibilitiesPatient/Client CareExamines patient and performs comprehensive physical examination. Compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Refers to physician as needed.Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviation from normalPrescribes medications following strict protocols established by contractual agreementsConfers with patient’s private physician(s) as neededCounsels patients and helps them understand their limitations and abilitiesActs as a resource person for decisions, planning, and policies affecting the health of patients and staffServes as a clinic in-service resourceOversees the continuum of care process for their patientsProvides patient education specific to various disease processesMaintains patient, employee, and computer confidentialityQualifications Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant programMust be currently licensed in the state of employment/practiceSatisfactory drug screen and criminal background checkWhat to expect from us:Recovery Services of New Mexico a progressive substance abuse treatment organization is committed to the highest quality of patient care in a comfortable outpatient clinic setting.
