Part Time Research Assistant

A part-time Research Assistant is being sought to support the lab of Dr. Yu at the Children’s National Research and Innovation Center in Washington, DC. The lab is primarily affiliated with Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI) in the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Projects in the lab are integrating comprehensive research tools in chromatin biochemistry, reconstituted systems, deep-sequencing, molecular and cell biology, and cancer biology. Current projects include functional regulation of chromatin modifying enzymes by novel protein-RNA and protein-protein interactions, how disruption of balancing between heterochromatin and euchromatin contributes to early oncogenesis in pediatric brain cancers, and non-histone targets of histone-modifying enzymes. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented person who enjoys interacting with others, being a key part of a diverse and active scientific environment, and managing multiple project duties. This position will provide an excellent opportunity to gain research experience in gene expression and human disease.
