Parts Procurement Specialist

Objective
The Parts & Procurement Specialist is responsible for monitoring inventory quantities and preparing purchase orders and receiving of aircraft maintenance parts, equipment and supplies in support of the 145 repair station.\n


Responsibilities and Duties\n\nPrepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.\nDetermine if inventory quantities are sufficient for needs and ordering additional materials when necessary.\nRespond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.\nContact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems. Review orders to verify accuracy.\nPrepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.\nCompare prices, specifications, and delivery dates in order to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.\nTrack the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders. Calculate costs of orders, and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts.\nCheck shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that goods meet specifications.\nWork closely with the accounting team to approve and submit invoices for payment.\nLocate suppliers, using sources such as catalogs and the internet, and interview them to gather information about products to be ordered.\nMaintain knowledge of all organizational and governmental rules affecting purchases, and provide information about these rules to organization staff members and to vendors.\nMonitor in-house inventory movement and complete inventory transfer forms for bookkeeping purposes.\n\n

Competencies
1. Communicate with customers, vendors, and employees in person, on phone, and through radio communications
2. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and be insurable by our insurance company (Requires clean driving record)
3. Basic computer skills including Microsoft office products and use of database management system for inventory control
4. Basic mathematical knowledge
5. Ability to recognize colors and distinguish between yellow, red and green tags.\n


Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Parts Manager\n


Work Environment
This position works inside a hangar and outside in all types of weather conditions and direct contact with both moving and non-moving aircraft. This position may be exposed to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery.\n


Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, to include but not limited to:
1. Position requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
2. Good physical condition, frequent lifting, carrying weight up to 35 pounds, and occasional pushing\/pulling weights up to 100 pounds.
3. Possible exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery\n


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a non-exempt position
This position may include shift work which requires working evenings and weekends, and on scheduled company holidays.\n


Travel
No travel is expected for this position.\n


Required Education and Experience
1. Experience in aviation industry shipping, receiving and parts preferred.
2. High School Diploma or equivalent
3. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
4. Entry level position\n

3. Acceptable driving record
4. Ability to pass a background check
