Parts Specialist/Material Planners provide counter service to MBTA Bus and Light rail employees who need parts/equipment to perform their duties. The Parts Specialist will assist with inventory control, data entry, and customer service.
ResponsibilitiesProvide quality customer service to include but not limited to the following:
Attention to detailMeet and greet customersReview requisition forms to ensure proper completion (signatures, timestamps, part numbers, description and quantity)Answer questions regarding availability of partsAsk appropriate questions to ensure correct parts are researched and providedInform customers when requested parts are availableMaintain neat and clean stock room area and perform regular cycle counts of materialProvide recommendations on min/max stocking levelsStock Room Responsibilities:
Shall perform a variety of warehousing duties, to include, but not limited to the following:
Understanding of warehouse storage plans and warehouse operationsPerform manual counts and inventory reconciliation at 98% accuracy as assignedPerform daily cycle counts at a 98% accuracy rate as assignedVerifying materials against receiving, shipping, storage and inventory documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damageRouting materials to prescribed storage locationsStoring, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methodsManaging and taking inventory of received, shipped and/or stored materials dailyExamine stored materials and report deterioration and damageRemoving material from storage/receipt areas and preparing it for turn-inProcess and/or affix, receipt, shipment, storage, pick/pack and other paperwork and reports as requiredProvide causative research for misidentified, damaged, non-located material as requiredOperates hand or power trucks and/or forklift in performing warehousing dutiesIn addition, Material Planner will devote at least one (1) hour daily and five (5) hours weekly to his assigned base per scheduled shift. This time will be utilized to perform 5S functions (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain). This includes removal of trash and debris from the storeroom. This can be inspected by either MANCON management of MBTA leadership.
Parts Pickup:
Occasionally drive vehicle to designated vendors' location to purchase/pick-up partsProvide documentation to vendors as required (tax exempt form, credit references)Review all vendor invoices to ensure accuracy on pricing, parts, and quantitiesReturn products to MANCON location in a timely mannerData Entry:
Generate customer requisitions in the inventory systemEnter vendor receiving documents in the inventory systemReceive, stow and catalog in and out bound inventoryOther Requirements:
Provide support to the MBTA location during emergenciesReceive Material from Main Warehouse and other Base Locations by 8:00 amAdhere to required proceduresMust wear location specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all timesRequired to wear company provided shirts daily Qualifications 1 year computer experienceWarehouse, stockroom or Inventory management experienceObtain and maintain a forklift license Preferred Qualifications 1 year inventory experience1 year customer service roleExperience in inventory/point of sale applicationsExperience with bus or light rail partsFamiliarity with automotive, bus, or rail parts experienceAutomotive Certification Programs will be considered in conjunction with experienceAbility to communicate in EnglishValid Driver's License Physical Requirements Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
