Parts Technician
Description

  This position is responsible to manage all aspects of the MSS Parts Department under general supervision of the MSS Maintenance Manager.  Key Responsibilities: Aptitude for counting and inventory management  Excellent teamwork skills  Strong written and oral communication skills  Strong attention to details Able to receive and verify parts ordered on the purchase order against the packing slip Catalog, store and label parts as required  Carefully monitor and track out of stock parts  Recognize damaged products at any point in the warehousing process and take appropriate action when discovered  Ability to identify and locate a variety of vehicle parts and supplies Pull orders accurately as assigned Prepare receiving, storage, and shipping documentation and accountability throughout the logistical process Conduct routine counts and inventory as required Control inventory by ensuring parts are properly received and signed out/in  Assist staff with obtaining parts Work with staff to review and ID parts that need to be sent out for repair, removed or replaced  Working knowledge of streetcar components  Knowledge of parts and tools needed to repair maintenance/streetcar equipment Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, ExCell and Teams)Ability to identify electronic components and values  Must be able to obtain forklift certification and operate a forklift and  Ability to operate equipment safely and properly, including electric/manual hand jack Ability to interpret and apply company policies and proceduresExcellent verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and within a team environmentDemonstrate and maintain effective time managementKnowledge of the products and services of the companyAbility to read, perform basic mathematics, understand, and respond to written and verbal instructions in English for the purposes of safety, job performance and policies, etc.The ability to input data into various MMIS computer systems Be aware of and follow location and MSS Safety and Security policies and proceduresCarefully monitor, track and report parts that are out of stock  Assist with Hazmat labeling  Assist in maintaining SDS sheets  Build and maintains relationships with parts vendors  Follow safe work practices and proceduresAbility to perform general cleaning duties to company standardsKeep parts room clean and organized  Work overtime as assigned Other duties as required.  Education, Licensing, and Certifications:   This position requires a high school diploma or equivalentRelevant training or certification in a related technical field is preferred Qualified to drive and possess a valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license in good standing  Experience:   Minimum of one year of related storeroom inventory/parts experience of parts and supplies Experience in transit rail vehicle maintenance and/or a related field (e.g.), high voltage  electrical, electrical/mechanical, railroad track) is preferred. Equivalence of experience and education will be considered  Skills and Knowledge Required:  Must be able to read and comprehend technical specifications and manuals Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs; know how to operate standard office equipment, two-way radios, fleet vehicles and other related shop equipment; familiarity with Asset Management system(s) would be beneficial Must have good oral and written communications skills  Must be able to work amid interruptions, prioritize and deal with time pressured deadlines and be able to clearly communicate during such occasions  Must be autonomous, self-directed and possess the ability to manage crisis and conflict situations  Pre-Employment Requirements: Must submit to initial & routine drug testing and a criminal background check and verification of previous employment  Physical Requirements:Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules, including weekends as needed This position requires the wearing of a uniform Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of conditions (e.g.) weather, rain, dust, noise, heat, cold, etc.)  Job requires standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking throughout the shift Must handle parts and equipment ranging from 10 to 50 lbs.  Work LocationMSS Operations & Maintenance Facility - 450 N.5th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53203Office/Shop environment
