Job Summary
Responsible for handling a high volume of incoming calls from both physician’s offices and patients. Will schedule, re-schedule, update and change patient appointments in a timely manner. Responsible for ensuring pre-cert/authorization requirements have been met. Will have thorough knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes. Scheduler will be responsible for pre-registration. Responsible for filing and interpretation of physician orders. Scheduler is responsible for updating demographic information. Assist patients ranging in age from adult to geriatrics who may call to verify the time/date or other information about their procedures.
Qualifications
Required: Includes solving, operating, reasoning, interpreting, remembering, understanding, directing, controlling, computing, and counting. Good Counseling and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, courtesy and tact with patient, family members, physicians and staff members. Analytical ability for numbers and situations. Keyboard, Computer,Customer Service Skills,and office machine experience Preferred; Two year experience in a physician’s office setting with scheduling responsibilities or in a health care environment with admitting background preferred Typing proficiency of 40 words per minute preferred. Preferred; High school diploma preferred which generally provides the ability to read and write in order to schedule patients and read warning and preparation experience.
