PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Pastry Sous Chef shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.
This position will assist the Head Pastry Chef in creating a wide variety of desserts and baked goods to ensure that guests have an exceptional dining experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Food Preparation and Product Control – 95%
Prepare all menu items following recipes and presentation guidelines, according to departmental standards.Assist with managing a team of pastry cooks in completion of tasks.Assist in the creation and execution of menu items for Tea, Chef’s Choice, and private events.Assist with inventory management and regular upkeep/proper storage of goods.Additional Responsibilities – 5%
Act as back in the absence of the Head Pastry Chef.Participate in Navigators’ on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings, or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver’s Authorization, and other releases as required.Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system.Other job-related duties as assigned.CORE COMPETENCIES

Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
Experience: This role requires strong organization & time management skills with an emphasis on customer service. At least 2 years of experience in pastry preparation.
Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including verbal & written, to create understanding and build strong working relationships required. Supervisory experience preferred.
Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent. Food handling certificate required. Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship preferred.
Compensation Range: $35,000 - $49,000 annually
