Who are we
The Patent Operation Team is globally responsible for filing patent & design applications, managing the Roche & Genentech patent & design portfolio and ensuring efficient and effective operation of all related processes.
In this challenging position in the patent department of Roche in Basel, you will assume an important role as a Patent Filing Specialist.
You will support the Global Patent Operations Team to complete a range of formalistic duties to ensure that our global patent & design rights are safely and properly filed. You have the ability to work in a global team and ensure that all duties are completed accurately and delivered with high quality in a timely manner. Ensures client service and satisfaction are attained in all areas of the position. Completes special projects as requested. You know and apply the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of the particular field of specialization. Act as an interface with internal/external customers and departments. You are responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.
Your key responsibilities include:
Filing all patent & design applications in accordance with the Patent Committee Meeting resolutions
Create electronic file records based on the filing resolutions. Update and maintain the IP Management system and Global Electronic Records
Preparation of transfer of rights
Obtaining the required signatures from inventors/entities and it's notarization/legalization where appropriate
Monitor and ensure that formality due dates are duly met.
Obtain and timely file formality documents according to the international/national patent jurisdictions
Monitor filing confirmation
Furthermore, you independently correspond as needed with global affiliates, patent agents, inventors and authorities. You participate in various global projects and you stay current on changing requirements of Patent Offices to ensure proactive alignment of filing practices. You also prepare and execute assignment/transfer of case records.
Who you are:
Commercial Diploma, University or equivalent education preferred; Patentanwaltsfachangestellte or CIPA education preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience as a patent administrator, IP paralegal or patent formalities officer
Knowledge and expertise regarding substantive and procedural intellectual property law including patent office rules and procedures
Very good computer skills
Experience with online PTO portals
Experience with IP management systems
Good oral and written English and German communication skills
You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple, concurrent tasks and assignments. You are proactive, self-disciplined and able to work independently and globally in a virtual team.
