The Patent Unit Continental Europe (PU-CE) is part of the global Ericsson GFGS IPR & Licensing Organization and is responsible for inventions originating from several European countries and for all Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) related tasks including handling inventions in all stages from R&D project support, patent application filing and prosecution, coordination of national filings up to oppositions, nullity actions, and portfolio management as the basis for the value creation from our patents.
In addition, we in PU-CE support defend themselves in litigations arising. We work closely with other Ericsson IPR units worldwide and the common legal department.
As a suitable candidate, you are prepared to stay updated on legal, business and technological developments.
Development opportunity:
Depending on your experience level and interest, you will develop your career towards the European Patent Attorney Qualification and/or Patent Portfolio Management.
What you will doProvide IPR support for the R&D operations in Budapest including strategic university partners. You will be in close contact with the local inventors and support the ideation of inventions and guide inventors in drafting patentable and valuable invention disclosures.
Perform the IPR ownership & assignment as well as local IPR target setting and follow-up processes together with local employees and management.
Evaluate inventions and take care for the drafting and filing of patent applications as well as preparing office actions and claim charts to obtain granted patents in close cooperation with R&D, other patent professionals, and patent offices all over the world.
Manage a patent portfolio or provide support to patent portfolio management.
You will bringA degree in Engineering, Physics, or Computer Sciences, providing a strong technical foundation.Understanding of telecommunication technologies.A keen interest in technical, business and legal matters.Previous experience as an inventor, involvement in standardization, or project management will be an advantage.Experience in patents such as European Patent Attorney Qualification or working as a patent examiner or patent engineer is a plus.Analytical thinking and an eye for detail, paired with a solution-oriented approach.Adaptability in various situations and collaborative teamwork, with skills in coordination and communication.Proficiency in English (knowledge of Hungarian is a plus).
