Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting with the efficient operation of pathology cases; acts as liaison with stakeholders and other departments for case escalation and/or case status updates. Provides assistance with the development and management of the digital pathology laboratory and all digital imaging platforms.

Position Key Accountabilities:

\tEfficiently tracks and monitors pathology cases to ensure appropriate turnaround time.\tAnalyzes data and creates necessary reports to identify issues and opportunities for performance improvement.\tAssists in resolving issues with cases and provides feedback on process or workflow.\tMonitors errors and metrics for pathology cases.\tPerforms outbound calls for specimen information (confirmation of accession numbers, specimen locations, pathology fax numbers, address confirmation, etc.\tResponsible for scanning operations, project management and quality assurance.\tMaintains, stores, archives and transfers digital pathology images to their proper locations.\tInterfaces with IT department and vendors for all digital pathology needs.      \tResponsible for routine scanner maintenance, updates and issue resolution\tAssists in various projects relating to digital pathology.\tMaintains knowledge of techniques, procedures and protocols. \tFollows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Health & Safety standards and department policies/procedures in the performance of all duties. \tPerforms other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

None. 

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in biology, life sciences or related field. 

Minimum Experience:

Two (2) years of related experience in laboratory operations or related area. 

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
