Introduction to role:

Join us in improving the oncology patient journey across local healthcare systems by working with field and head office colleagues to implement sustainable solutions with cross-functional and external partners. As a Pathway Optimisation Manager, you will lead pathway optimisation across the UK, developing partnerships with healthcare organisations that deliver value to the NHS and AstraZeneca. This role involves managing projects end-to-end, engaging partners through project scoping, negotiation, finalisation, delivery, evaluation, and close. You will lead strategic pathway and partnership direction for oncology cancer field teams and pilot, deploy, and scale solutions nationally to improve patient outcomes.

Accountabilities:

• Proactively analyse and identify challenges and bottlenecks in patient pathways within local healthcare markets, focusing specifically on oncology care.

• Anticipate patient access barriers and opportunities to create and implement appropriate plans and deployment of innovative solutions to optimise pathways and accelerate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

• Devise and define plans to implement AstraZeneca’s OBU partnership strategy in relevant therapy areas, including finding solutions that are effective in the pathway and sustainable and scalable to other markets and healthcare systems.

• Build capability and ongoing cross-functional working in market through relevant field teams to identify pathway issues using mapping tools and data.

• Engage with a wide range of partners across franchises and externally to agree aligned problem statements to be solved for in local pathways.

• Manage projects from concept to implementation, ensuring that solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and with measurable outcomes and scaling recommendations.

• Share standard processes and findings across different franchises, markets, and within the global AstraZeneca organisation to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

• Ensure that all solutions align with local and international regulations, ethical guidelines, and industry standards.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

• Experience in healthcare innovation and pathway optimisation

• Experience in engaging with senior NHS partners

• Proficiency in data analysis and mapping tools

• Strategic and creative thinking

• Change management skills

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Advanced Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field

• Experience in oncology care and patient pathways

• Advanced communication and influencing skills

• Experience in agile and human-centred design methodologies
