Financial Clearance Patient Access Concierge is responsible for verifying, confirming, and updating eligibility information in the patient's registration record and obtaining referrals or authorizations for applicable services while providing excellent customer service to our patients, supporting departments, and external customers.
Responsibilities
Facilitates and obtains the pre-authorization of various services between referring physicians and insurance carriers through the use of online tools and direct phone callsEnsures scheduled outpatient services are financially cleared before the patient receiving the servicePerforms medical necessity checks for scheduled services and communicates options to the patient if medical necessity failsManages work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments based on departmental goalsFollows departmental process guidelines for proper documentation and recording of authorization informationForwards directs, and notifies PAC II, Supervisor, and Manager of issuesMaintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulationsInteracts with various hospital departments and physician’s offices via emails/in-basket/phone callsInforms patients of any problems with securing the referral/authorization before the scheduled dateUtilizes department and organization policies and procedures to complete assigned tasksDemonstrates teamwork by helping co-workers within and across departmentsUnderstand departmental and individual quality metricsProvides ideas and suggestions for process improvements within the departmentAdjusts processes as needed to meet goals and standardsOther duties as assignedQualifications
Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and Commercial rules and regulationsProficient in contracted and non-contracted healthcare insurance plansEPIC experience preferredExceptional organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills1-3 years previous hospital billing, insurance follow-up, or customer service in a hospital settingExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsCustomer service orientedHigh School Diploma or equivalentProficiency in computer data entry/typingAbility to type 40 wpmCapability to multi-taskPay Range: $16.70 - $25.53 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
