As our Patient Access Insurance Verification Representative, your primary focus is to mitigate the financial risks to our hospital clients. Every day you will work in the insurance verification department contacting insurance companies using various means to secure patient’s eligibility insurance/coverage and clinical information needed to determine patient’s eligibility, coverage, and insurance limitations as well as obtaining authorizations and completing notice of admissions (NOA). The representative will use their analytical skills to make decisions and explain coverage details to case managers and will work closely with utilization management and insurance companies. Success in this role is measured with the use of weekly productivity scorecards. To thrive in this role, you must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, team-oriented, and comfortable making outbound calls to insurance carriers. The representative will need outstanding time management skills and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks while remaining self-directed. The representative should have experience in a role that required strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills and should have demonstrated the ability to work independently and under pressure with minimal supervision.
Please be advised, this is a full-time role. The representative will work Monday through Friday, 9:30am - 6pm CST. The representative will work onsite at Ascension St. Vincent's East, 50 Medical Park Dr E, Birmingham, AL 35235.The representative must be up to date on all vaccines (including but not limited to annual flu shot). We can help you with your vaccines at no cost to you. The specialist will need to pass a background check and drug screen.
Here’s what you will experience working as a Patient Access Insurance Verification Representative:
Initiating contact with client hospital patients’ insurance companies via telephone website using appropriate terminology to ensure the required level of benefit, pre-certification/authorization and notifications of admissions are obtained for all bedded patients, including acute emergency admissions, skilled nursing, hospice and behavioral health
Completing appropriate electronic systems with detailed benefit and pre-certification/ authorization information to ensure a clean claim
Identifying inaccurate plan codes and making corrections in the hospital’s registration system and billing system as needed
Working directly with multiple insurance websites to obtain benefits, authorization validation and notice of admissions
Working with patients with newborn admissions, coordinating the addition of newborn to policy
Adhering to the guidelines set forth in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI)
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED
For this US-based position, the base pay range is $15.73 - $19.66 per hour .
