Job Overview:

The Patient Access Representative accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs which will enhance timely cash flow and reduce the days in accounts receivable.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

Medical insurance verification and authorization experience preferredPatient Access experience preferredKnowledge in all aspects of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care preferredMedical terminology and computer skills

Scheduling Requirements:

Part-TimeShifts 11pm-7am, every other weekendEvenings

Essential Functions:

Responsible for coordinating and facilitating registration and admissions by obtaining pertinent demographic information, collecting accurate insurance information and performing inpatient authorizations in order to financially clear inpatient hospital accountsThe ideal candidate must be detail oriented and promote patient satisfactionService orientated background, good written and verbal communication skill and accurate typing abilityDemonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessaryReflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitudeWorks closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments to foster a team environmentParticipate in training through the development of training tools, presentations at department in-services or staff meetings, or through the training of registration staff outside the patient access department
