Summary:

The Patient Services Advocate position will serve as an ambassador of Faith Regional Health Services (FRHS) to members of the Hispanic Community who present for services as patients within the FRHS healthcare system. The Patient Services Advocate will be welcoming and attentive to the needs of all patients and work to create an environment of care and trust while managing expectations and demonstrating compassion and respect. The Patient Services Advocate will also serve as a member of the health care team by assisting in the delivery of patient centered care through excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for assisting patients and healthcare providers to understand and navigate the Faith Regional healthcare system.Proactively work to build trusting relationships with patients, patient family members, providers and other members of the healthcare team to ensure that the best interests of these individuals are met.Serve as a patient advocate, including participating in daily patient rounding with Clinical Leaders, to ensure that all existing patient barriers to quality care, including language and cultural barriers, are identified and addressed to the best of FRHS ability.Manage and respond to patient and/or provider requests, incoming calls and other requests for services related to the healthcare environment in order to meet the needs of the patient as much as possible.Conduct interviews with patients and/or patient family members and accurately relay information from those interviews to other members of the healthcare team.Be available and able to drive to FRHS locations located away from the main hospital campus to assist patients and employees with communication and advocacy issues.

Be available for rotating weekend shifts and on-call availability.

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

Job Requirements:

The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION:

GED or High School Diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 

Previous experience in a customer service-related field preferred.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

SKILLS:

Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English and Spanish languages and provide translation required.

Excellent customer service skills required.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with efficiency required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required. 

Other Certifications/Requirements:

Current, valid driver’s license issued in the state of legal residence required.

Medical Interpretation Certification obtained within nine months from date of hire.
