General Summary:
The Patient Advocate serves as the primary point of contact for the identification, management, and resolution of assigned complaints, grievances, and requests communicated by and/or on behalf of the populations served by Sheppard Pratt.
The Patient Advocate engages with the patient/patient representative to assure protection of patient rights, facilitate communication between patients and staff, educate patients (or secure appropriate resources to do so) on the topic of their concern so that matters are resolved in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Work requires comprehensive knowledge of health care administration and its governing laws and effective oral and written communication skills - acquired through Master’s degree in clinical psychology, counseling, nursing, or related health services field of study. Applicants with a Bachelors degree will be considered eligible provided that they have demonstrated experience in healthcare advocacy and/or clinical role. Work requires 3-5 years of hospital experience in order to gain comprehensive knowledge of clinical documentation requirements; knowledge of the law regulations pertaining to patients’ rights; general knowledge in the requirements and review processes of TJC, CMS, and state regulatory agencies; demonstrated experience in researching and preparing for audits/reviews. Broad knowledge of treatment of psychiatric populations preferred.Hours:
Four 10-hour shifts (9a-7p) with weekend rotation (approx. 1 per month) If interested, working weekends and 2 additional weekdays will also be consideredBenefits:
