Responsibilities The Patient Benefits Verification Specialist is an integral role within the Revenue Cycle. The Patient Benefits Verification Specialist researches, analyzes, and evaluates payer status and determines insurance coverage specifically for substance abuse and mental health benefits. The position will work closely with Patient Access Coordinators, Referent Relations, Financial Advocates, Managed Care, Contracting, and Patient Accounts team members. The Patient Benefits Verification Specialist will work in multiple systems, including RMIS, Sales Force Service Cloud, Compass and online payer portals. In-depth insurance knowledge and detailed documentation is required. The Patient Benefits Verification Specialist is responsible to research, analyze, and evaluate network status, eligibility, authorization requirements, deductibles, coinsurance, out of pocket maximums, copays, exclusions, limitations, and any other requirements of the plan. The Patient Benefits Verification Specialist is responsible for clearly and precisely documenting all relevant information to be relayed to the patient and verifying that all data is accurate and updated for efficient claim processing. Research, analyze, and evaluate payer status and determine insurance coverage specifically for substance abuse and mental health benefits at all applicable levels of care Enter clear, accurate, detailed, and timely documentation in all applicable systems Ensure Insurance and Financial Information Integrity Maintain a collaborative and respectful relationship with the multidisciplinary team, including Referent Relations, Patient Access Coordinators, Contracting, Managed Care Specialists, and Patient Accounts team. Respond to all inquiries promptly Facilitate and demonstrate communication of patient information in order to represent accurately transactions with patients according to internal/external standards Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or at least 6 years of equivalent work experience 2 or more years working with healthcare insurance and finances Previous experience working closely and collaboratively with other teams on a patient’s behalf. Demonstrated knowledge in Microsoft Suite Excellent interpersonal and telephone communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with Cerner EHR Experience with Substance Use and Mental Health services Knowledge of 12-Step Program Overview The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is the largest nonprofit addiction recovery organization in the United States.
